Abstract

The paper describes the application of geoinformation system (GIS) for local geomorphological zoning of the territory of the reservoir tank storage (an infrastrucrure object, the sufficient part of trunk pipeline). The reservoir tank storage includes: oil tanks, pump stations, roads, warehouses, administrative buildings, fire-Figurehting facilities, etc. The morphology of natural landforms was changed during construction, and it led to the consequent changes in natural land forming processes’ dynamics, which corresponds to landforms and landform complexes. GIS-analysis of landform morphology, both of natural and technogenic landforms, allows delineating so-called “eco-geomorphologic sites” and “eco-geomorphologic elements” within reservoir tank storage and adjacent territory. Spatial analysis, combined with local ecogeomorphological zoning, gives an opportunity to delineate sites with different sets of landforming processes. For example, eco-geomorphic sites with natural severe topography and so-called “buffer zone” (the space between constructions and intact zone) are characterized by patagenesis of exogenous land forming processes, which consists of "water-lumber-stone" mudflows and water erosion caused by ephemeral streams. The central part of the territory is characterized by paragenesis of deluvial washout and ephemeral streams erosion. The “ecogeomorphologic” object zoning was performed with GIS support.
