Abstract

The study of green zones development in urban areas on example of Central park in Apatity Murmansk region was carried out. A role of the park zone for various recreation types of the city population is revealed. For the purpose of scientific planning of green zone management, it was visualized using the ArcGIS version 10.4. During the research it was established that the buildings that adjoin the park creates a shadow zone. From all sides the park is surrounded by streets, therefore motor transport is considered as a source of pollutants entering the atmosphere and the road surface. Gardening streets and courtyards adjoined to the park increases its ecological potential. An area with different vegetation and light conditions provides a wide variety of microclimatic conditions in the park. The functioning of business and public objects located near the park has an indirect effect on attendance of park areas. This regime determines the intensity, volume and movement direction of the park area visitors. The results of attendance monitoring showed that attendance of the Central Park in Apatity is high, the park takes up to 800 visitors daily from 9 a.m. to 18 p.m. The park zone is popular for people of all ages, and potential of ecological services of the park is used only partially. The authors proposed a number of activities for the development of the park area.
