Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the spatial organization of magnetic susceptibility of soils and epiphytes in urbanized areas and geoinformation mapping of the obtained results using web GIS technologies. The object of the study is the soil cover and epiphytic cover on tree trunks within the Motovilikha District of Perm. The purpose of the study is to perform spatial modeling of magnetic susceptibility of soils and epiphytes of the Motovilikha District of Perm. The choice of this territory is due to the high density of residential development, which in the northern part adjoins the industrial zone of PAO “Motovilikhinskiye zavody” (a complex of metallurgy and mechanical engineering enterprises). The total area on which the study was carried out is 10.59 km2. The studies were carried out on a scale of 1:25 000. Magnetic susceptibility measurements were performed using a KT-6 device, which allows obtaining values in æ × 10-3 SI. The total number of research points was 130. To create the web GIS “Geoinformation system of magnetic susceptibility of epiphytes of Motovilikha District of Perm” standard technologies of formation of graphical user interface, distributed DBMS PostgreSQL with extension PostGIS and GIS server Geoserver were used. The conducted research showed close connection of maps of magnetic susceptibility of soils and epiphytes and average connection of data of individual measurements. Epiphytes demonstrate stronger negative correlation with distance to industrial source (r = -0.51) than soils (r = -0.32), which reflects their high sensitivity to atmospheric emissions. Placing the obtained results in the form of web GIS allowed to create an accessible and interactive platform for data visualization, which can be used in environmental protection, scientific research and educational activities. Web map is of particular importance for residents and administration of Perm, as it allows them to assess the ecological and geochemical state of the environment.
