Abstract
The article considers the relevance of studying and mapping wetlands, requirements for their representation on specialized topographic maps, materials and methods of research. Long-term experience accumulated in mapping of swamps at different stages of their study and development is taken into account. To obtain dynamic indicators of ecosystems condition, aerial and space images are used in combination with topographic maps of different years of publication. Optimal approaches to interpretation of aerial and space images are shown. The methods of geoinformation mapping and landscape approach along with visual interpretation and automated image processing techniques: multispectral analysis, supervised classification, problem-oriented normalized indices are taken as a basis. The choice and representativeness of wetlands for experimental studies were justified. The specificity of the benchmarks, which requires mandatory consideration when adapting remote sensing methods to the solution of conservation problems, is characterized. The main indicators of the state of swamps as a basis for experiments are revealed. Their qualitative and quantitative indicators were obtained to assess the self-development and disturbance of wetlands in relation to the need for restoration and protection. Methodological and practical recommendations on the study of the state, development trends and transformation of wetlands under anthropogenic impacts using remote sensing methods are presented. The recommendations cover not only the peculiarities of wetlands study, but also illustrate the developed system of wetland complexes with their deciphering features and images on images and maps. As a final result, a fragment of a specialized topographic map with its legend is given.—[The concept of a specialized map is given in the work: Vereshchaka T.V. Topographic Maps: Scientific Foundations of the Content. Moscow: Nauka/Periodika, 2002. 319 p.] The approach and sequence of processes of adaptation of remote sensing methods to the solution of nature protection tasks from the position of cognitive concept of cartography are summarized in the conclusion.
